NOVELS

REVELATION (queer, horror, historical fiction)

Through the ‘80s and ‘90s, a mysterious, anonymous fashion designer, eventually known as The Revelation, rose to fame with three controversial protest shows in defense of the queer community. In the face of the AIDS crisis, Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, and an epidemic of youth homelessness, The Revelation dared to call out the death and destruction offered to queer people by the world around them. A decade later, in the early 2000’s, idolization of The Revelation offers hope to another fashion prodigy: Ze Caplin.

After escaping the suffocating abuse of his aggressive, queerphobic mother, Ze flees to Brooklyn in search of his idol. There, hidden within The Revelation’s rehabilitation center for queer artists, he finds an underground community of like-minded designers—from new loves to new rivals—and a new home. Led by the icon themself, the community serves the patients of the center while simultaneously throwing extravagant, indulgent parties for the creative, queer elite in celebration of the three original shows.

As Ze becomes more intertwined in the community, he discovers that these efforts are in preparation for a fourth and final show—at which The Revelation will name a protege and successor. But he also discovers that the community, and The Revelation, have secrets of their own. Grappling with the pressure of the ensuing competition and the trauma of his past, Ze’s own substance-fueled paranoia becomes consumed by lust and jealousy, and as the final show grows closer and he hunts for the truth behind his lifelong inspiration, he is forced to reckon with the darkness of the queer experience.

In Progress:

UNTITLED APOCALYPSE FICTION (science fiction, fantasy)

At the dawn of our universe, Perception, Connection, and Imagination came together to manifest Consciousness—the fabric with which all is woven. These three sisters, existing beyond our comprehension, created us, but not only once, and not without a purpose. Fearing that consciousness is inherently destructive, they manifested their collective being into humanity across many worlds. Putting us under the watchful eye of Time, and each allowed one means of observing their experiments, the sisters set consciousness loose throughout the universe.

Across three such worlds, each blindly nearing their ultimate destruction, the human experience and its beauty, sacrifice, and insanity unfolds. In a brutal, war-torn world, Perception watches as a young mirror-maker hungers for love, his craft slowly destroying his mind and his own reflection. Connection guides an ailing dementia patient, connecting his lifelong commitment to the objectivity of mathematics with a newfound gift for tarot, as he searches for meaning under the guardianship of artificial intelligence. And underground, on a world destroyed by human industry, the dreams of a psychedelic-dependent habitat designer connect her to Imagination. As the state of each world (and the people within it) grows increasingly dire, the sisters must watch as the core of humanity—and the core of Consciousness themself—is thrust into the light.
